I just had to document it while it was still fresh in my mind.
Journaling:
The day before Valentine’s Day, school got canceled so we started a secret project that would never have been created otherwise (a fabric album for Dad with words and pictures from us telling him how much we love him that we worked on all day Wednesday). Usually we like to give the kids small things that we know that they will love but this year Jessi’s big surprise was the gift of my pink iPod that Mike had given to me a few years ago for “Love Day.” She has been wanting one for a few months and she was completely shocked when she opened it. Mike had it loaded up with all of her favorite songs so it was all ready to go! Ryan was delighted with his new train, Jack, and has played with it every day so far. It’s certainly never about the gifts... it’s the people that matter. But sometimes it’s nice to give an unexpected surprise and see the joy on their faces. And any day is a good day for saying “I love you.”
