art journaling: another self portrait
Thank you for all of your encouraging words. Your support has been amazing and I feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful community of artists out in blogland!!
The past few days have been much better and I'm having fun again in the art journaling department and staying focused on the fact that I AM starting out, and learning, and that whole point is to have fun and to EXPLORE. So that's where I am. I didn't expect to fall off so early but maybe that will make it easier when I hit a snag in the road next time. Because there are always ups and downs. There will be a next time. I hope I handle it more gracefully (and at least I can go back and re-read some of your comments and emails)!
There are few layers going on... the original background can barely be seen since it was written over and then I tried to do a gel transfer of a photograph of myself but I didn't put enough gel medium on so it ripped in some places and I ended up gessoing over most of it, leaving the outline of my tank, drawing the body outline, and then some more paint on top in colors that coordinate with the fabric squares glued on. I used fabric to make a skirt. I have some more journaling that's hidden underneath the skirt (that I didn't paint over).
And now off to watch the Gator football game. GO GATORS!!
AND SOME NEWS: I have a fun new collaboration blog that I am excited to announce tomorrow. If you want to live well, have more energy, enjoy cooking (or want to), and want to follow our on-going experiences doing the same (and want to have support on your *own* journey to getting healthy and living abundantly) then this will be perfect for you! More details tomorrow.
