Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope you had a beautiful day surrounded by people that you love and that love you back! I know today was a great day at our house (despite some tears and a clogged toilet <--one of the new ones. Yes, really! They were separate incidents, both involving the kids - one for little #2, the other for little #1 . But Mike saved the day with a trip to Home Depot for an auger(?) that got things, ahem, flowing again. All is well and the kids are nestled all snug in their bed).
Last week I started and added another layer to canvas #2. This second canvas is 30"x40" The first layer was done with my eyes closed. I had my eyes wide open with the second layer.
At this point, I don't like what the canvas looks like (at all!), but I'm having a LOT of fun making marks all over the canvas, playing with color, experimenting with different brushes and color combinations, listening to music while I create... so it's all good! I am putting my complete trust in Flora and enjoying the process as it unfolds. I'm trying very hard to remind myself to let go of my expectations, so stay tuned to see how this progresses. And if I still don't like it at the end of the class I can gesso on top of it and start anew, right?!
The comforting things about this is that I know that there are MANY, many, MANY more layers to come in this process.
Sorry for the poor photo quality... the low lighting of my basement and a smear on my iPhone makes for icky photos. Grrr!
I didn't get to today's BLoom True painting lesson as I had hoped, because I taught 2 yoga classes in the morning, 1 after the kids finished with school, went to lunch with my Valentine at our favorite romantic place, helped the kids with homework, called both sets of grandparents with the kids, made dinner, tucking in at bedtime, all the normal stuff of life. BUT I have 2 hours carved out for tomorrow. Just me, my paints, and my 2 big canvases. I may even need to postpose getting my oil changed to make this happen. Yes, in fact that's exactly what I think I'm going to do. Great idea! Let's GO and make good things happen!
