Mike's words and my photos and page design came together for this layout about Ryan's most recent t-ball season. The you are extraordinary sentiment is on the page every bit for Ryan as it is for Mike. I love these two so very much and this past season they both went above and beyond to the extraordinary.
Mike's journaling: "Entering the second season of tee-ball we were a little concerned. The first season was a little difficult. You were playing a team sport for the first time, a new game with new rules, and having your Dad as an assistant coach. But sometimes as parents we worry too much. This second season was just great.
You were on the team with your best friend and I was able to coach with Ira, a great friend of mine. The team was completely different, the parents were much more supportive, and everyone had a great time. You were so excited to play with Jack that every game seemed like an outdoors play-date.
I loved watching you grow as a baseball player. We all knew you were fast (no one ever tagged you out the whole season and I think you batted a perfect 1.000). But your understanding of the game, the way you played the field, and how you managed the inevitable disappointments were all awesome to watch.
Each player -- and coach -- on the team got their own trophy, courtesy of Coach Ira. I put together baseball cards for all of the kids on the team, capturing everyone's unique personalities for us all to share. But the snapshot from the season, and what I'll always remember, is that you gave it your all and had fun.
And that's all a coach, or a Dad, could ever ask. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to coach you again this season. More importantly, I'm so proud to be your Dad. -Fall 2010"
