I originally started off this post writing about all the reasons why I haven't been around here this past week but I found myself growing weary of even re-living these stressful things. So how about we go the shorter route? Things have been a little crazy around here. The kind of crazy that watching a mindless show won't fix. The kind that a massage won't make go away. Or even a drink. (Not that I've tried any of these. Well, I did try watching The Daily Show, because we had one from last week on the DVR, and it did help because it made me laugh.) It's the kind of crazy that's only fixed with time... lots of time... and a good sprinkle of nestling in with loved ones and holding on for dear life.

(Photos are mostly random today. Just some things that I will be looking at frequently to help me connect with what is good out there.)
Things are definitely on the upswing now after declaring a do-over for the week yesterday. That one didn't take too well so I've declared another one as of today and so far so good! For the record, I'd like to request not having another 5-6 days like that again for a loooong time. Never would be fine too.
The recycling company is either going to love us or hate us. We have more recycling today than we've ever had before. We have boxes and boxes (from the arrival of our LoveSac stuff) and books and books (lots of cleaning and decluttering going on), and the regular amount of recycling bins added to that too.
I'd like to just sit and paint (or take a nap) but that's not going to happen because there are some things to do like drop off artwork to the library, take a shower, post a train table for sale on Craigslist (because if I don't get it out of here before my mom comes next month I will take a machete to it. Or maybe a chainsaw. It doesn't matter that we don't own either of these tools. I will find them, mark my words, if that train table is not out of this house soon.) I need to start cleaning out my desk because it's toast too. The only paining I might be doing is of my toenails because the toesies could use some love color.
Today we have no air conditioning and it's slated to be 92 degrees so I'm going to try and crawl up into my freezer to hang out while our old 20+-year-old HVAC unit is being taken out and a new one is installed. This is what caused the recent flurry of decluttering. I've had good-but-empty-thus-far intentions of cleaning our basement storage area this past winter, which is where the HVAC lives, but the fact that the repair guys couldn't take out the old unit spurred me into motion. It's going to be so nice and cool in this house when the guys finish up later tonight... a whole lot more efficient. Yay for that!!
We got rid of so much unnecessary stuff that's it unbelievable really. Mike's been hanging onto his old mass comm and poli sci books from college that he's ready to let go of; I am now at peace with getting rid of all of my running books. My foot has not been right since my surgery last May and I'm only kidding myself if I think I'm ever going to run a 10 miler or marathon again (a 5k is not even close to being a reality at this point). I have plenty of other interested and I'm kick-a%^ good at being creative and finding other ways to be active, stay healthy, and have fun so its best to let these books out into the world and let others read and love (and learn from) them. Trimming down the extra stuff continues to feel very freeing.
GOOD STUFF GOING ON RIGHT NOW THAT'S HELPING TO KEEP ME SANE:
a few of my alpine strawberries are ripe and ready for picking, flower petals showering the walkway to our front door, great friends that helped us get through this past week, good doctors, Mike figured out a great setup for our new furniture which nets me a comfy chair (LoveSac) in our bedroom for the first time ever, hearing my mom's voice on the phone, my family, a cozy home that I love, the peas are twisting and curling their tendrils up the tomato cages and blooming their flowers and some pods are already starting to grow

I meant to post our Philly Itinerary summary a while ago (like when I posted our trip photos, which you can find in the travel section) because I promised one of my friends that I would and this is the perfect day for it because I really need to check something off my list and I have no neat paintings or delicious food to show since I haven't been cooking anything exciting, though we did have a kick-butt burrito night with amazing salsa and guacamole, but I've shown that many times before here and I didn't pick up my camera at all so I couldn't share any of them here even if you wanted to see more Mexican Night pics. But Jessi was a great sous chef yesterday and helped get dinner ready in a flash, which was good because we needed quick. We squeezed dinner in between them playing at a friend's house while I got a haircut and needing to get the kids outfitted for their team suits for summer swim team.
